About Ano Mera

Ano Mera, 7–8 km inland from Chora, is Mykonos's second-largest settlement and its most genuinely Greek place, built around a true village square of tavernas and shops rather than beach clubs. At its heart stands the Panagia Tourliani monastery, founded in 1542, with an ornate Baroque gilded-wood altarpiece, decorated bell tower and marble fountain.
